I believe…

  • every being and nonbeing has spirit & desires:

What wants to happen? is a guiding question. Listening for desire and using desire as orientation.

  • in regarding all as precious:

Natures teaches us that all matter is precious and all waste is transmuted. What happens when I regard waste as precious?

  • handmade objects are magic:

Craft marries art, math, science, and spirituality as executed through the body. When the body comes in direct contact with materials, or is aided by simple hand tools, the person’s and the material’s spirits commune.

  • art is connection and catalyst:

Part of the art is responding to a call to bloom community relationships, stimulate exchange, and create opportunities for others.

  • acceptance breeds change:

What is faced and accepted can be transformed. Love unlocks the emergent possibilities that await in “problems”

  • I am always learning:

All is process in revision: progress is more impactful than perfection, a curious beginner’s mind brings joy as there is no right answer, only interesting questions.

ethos

some guiding questions:

  • What wants to happen?

  • How do I nourish my creative nature while taking only what is given in a way that is supportive to our life systems?

  • How might I, like the natural world, see the possibility, use, and beauty in waste?

These beliefs in practice….

  • All gems and gold are 100% recycled.

  • Each gem is formed and set by hand. Even the molds created to form the gems are fabricated or originate from handmade processes

  • I sit with materials and work with them, often abandoning my own design ideas to give way to their own desires.

  • I work with and learn from local artists and vendors.
